M 1. The gas pressure drops in an expansion process from 500kPa to 150kPa. The gas temperature before expansion is recorded as 200°C. Assuming isentropic expansion process, determine the terminal gas temperature after expansion. 2. Define Mach number. Determine the Mach number if the fluid velocity with reference to an aerofoil section is 275 m/s. Assume static temperature of the fluid is 30°C and * = 1.4. 3. Average meridional speed of a turbine is 125m/s. Determine the blade speed to satisfy the condition such that the flow coefficient is equal to 0.6. Assume that the machine is an incompressible flow machine. 4. Inlet stagnation air pressure of a two-dimensional compressor cascade is 1.3 bar and inlet stagnation temperature of 350K. For an inlet Mach number of 0.80 and an inlet flow angle of 50°, the exit flow angle is measured as 15.8°. Assuming the flow is isentropic, determine the mass flow rate per unit frontal area, the exit Mach number and the static pressure ratio across the cascade.
