It seems that Dr. Marie day was not done after doing the
complexometric titration. As she was tidying up her workspace, a
batch of soda ash samples suddenly arrived. With a heavy sigh, she
proceeded in diluting a soda ash sample in 50.0 mL of distilled
H2O. She then did a double indicator titration experiment with
phenolphthalein (phth) and methyl orange (mo) as indicators. Her
data are as follows:
Seeing how Dr. Marie was visibly exhausted with the
titration process, her trusted lab partner and confidante, Dave,
decided to help. He conducts the same experiment but accidentally
spills his solution after reaching the phth endpoint. Hence, he was
not able to titrate that solution with methyl orange. To finish his
analysis, Dave procures another soda ash sample, dissolves it in
water, but titrates this second sample to endpoint ONLY with methyl
orange. Dave's data are as seen below.
