VIBRATIONS AND MECHANICS OF MACHINES Question 1 () Figure I shows the cross-sectional area of a V-belt having face width b equal to aamm and thickness & equal to 12mm. The open belt drive is used to transmit power between shafts 30m apart with the diameter of the 350mm with driving pulley given as a groove angle of 44°. If the mass of the belt is 0.9 kg/m and maximum allowable stress is 8 MPa, determine the power that can be transmitted if the motor speed 900 rpm is reduced to 40% of its initial speed, taking into consideration the centrifugal tension and the coefficient of friction is 0.25-It is safe to assume that the thickness of the belt is negligible for calculating the velocity and the drive is fully efficient.
