An unmagnetized piece of iron (Fe) has its atomic dipole moments aligned as shown in the figure. If a magnetic field is now applied from left to right in this page, this piece of Fe gets magnetized. The magnetization is the result of a torque acting on each of these individual dipoles aligning them in a particular direction. What is this direction?
