2. (a) A body projected into the air at an angle of 30° to the vertical has a range of 594.5m. If the entire duration of the flight of the object is 14.5s, then calculate: (i) the horizontal component of the velocity of the body, (ii) the initial velocity of projection. (iii) the initial vertical component of the velocity of projection. (iv) the time in that it takes to reach maximum height. (v) the maximum height attained by the body. (vi) the time it takes the body to fall from its highest point down to a height of 57.3m above ground level. (vii) the height of the body when the vertical speed is 65 ms'. (b) During world war II, the Royal Air Force (RAF) had a bomber squadron called the "dam busters". These fighter pilots were able to destroy the water supplies in many German cities, by dropping bombs into the dams and reservoirs. If on a bombing run, a pilot is travelling directly towards a dam at a steady speed of 100 ms' and at a constant altitude of 490m, at what horizontal distance from the dam should he release his bombs.
