Problem 7. (12 pts) A waste stream with a flow of 5 m/s containing a BODs of 3.5 mg/L is discharged to a local river with a flow of 8.5 m/s and upstream BOD, of 2.5 mg/L. Calculate the BOD, you would expect in a sample of stream water collected 12 km downstream of the discharge if the mixed flow velocity is 0.1 m/s. Assume that the BOD test rate constant is 0.218 and BOD decay constant is 0.6/d for the mixed flows.
