(b) A water reservoir is designed to collect water from the
adjacent catchment basin with a constant demand/month of 30 x106 m3
. The table below shows the monthly records of the stream flow. Use
the mass curve to determine storage size (or capacity) for a
reservoir at a proposed site.
(i) Can the demands be met with the available river flow? If so,
how? What are the critical months?
(ii) Clearly identify segments or points in the curve where
reservoir is an initially full and could be spilling then getting
empty.
