1. An aluminium rod of 10 mm dia and 300 mm length is subjected to a tensile load of 500 kg. Calculate the tensile strain, the increase in length and decrease in diameter. The Youngs's modulus of metal is 0.8x108 kg/cm² and Poisson's ratio is 0.33.
