6.Non-parametric Estimation Exercise. For this
question, you will still assume that observations are independent
from patient to patient, but you will use only the observed
data given in the table, making no assumptions
that the data follows a specific distribution.
Note: When you determine these
probability estimates, please use β€œhat” notation. For example, the
estimate of P(T > 400) would be expressed as: 𝑃(𝑇̂> 400).
Notes: A square bracket, or β€œ]”
implies that the value is included in the interval. A round
bracket, or β€œ(β€œ implies that the value is not included in the
interval
Using the observed values in the table above,
estimate:
i. the probability that a patient will make it through
1200 days without a recurrence.
ii. the probability that a patient who has been 1200 days
since treatment without a recurrence will make it through the next
400 days without a recurrence.
