Assignment Description: Create a resume and cover
letter
One of the major outcomes of this course is to prepare students
for the Canadian Workplace. Many of the students in this program
have just arrived in Canada and are eager to start working.
For this major assignment, students will prepare a customized
resume and cover letter that will help them in their job search.
The customized résumé will specifically highlight or draw attention
to the skills, qualifications, and experience that is relevant to
the position being sought.
In order to customize the résumé, students will need to edit the
document so that their skills and experience are very similar to
the job posting. Résumés must include specific career objectives
and work history or experience that is relevant to the position
being sought. Also, the résumé must be written by the individual,
not a hired writer; otherwise, it will appear generic. Students are
tasked with creating a customized résumé using specific keywords or
phrases that will match those used in the job description.
