Reflection paper: Project management profile – This
question requires you to think about your project management
education and experience thus far and write a 1 to 1.5-page
reflection describing your approach to project management.
Essentially, this is a summary description of your identity as
a project manager. Include the following sections in your
reflection, which should include 1-3 paragraphs under each
one:
• Introduction (2 marks): describe your relevant
personal characteristics as if you were writing a cover
letter for a project manager position. Include your project
management goal(s) if you have any at this time (e.g., what kind of
Project Manager would you intend to be?).
• Summary of qualifications (2 marks): summarize your
schooling and/or project management experience here. Include
any special accomplishments, e.g., any recognition received,
targets met, etc.
• Project management approach (3 marks): this section
should be the longest in the paper. Describe, with examples
demonstrating your claims, how you define yourself as a
manager and how you deal with the challenges of project
management. For example: What do you think are common challenges
many projects face, and how are you equipped to manage them?
The world is rapidly changing; what changes do you foresee
and what strategies would you use to lead a project through
these changes? How do you approach stakeholder relationships
and engagement?
• Opportunities to grow (2 marks): end your reflection
with a short description of the skills, knowledges, or
practices you would like to become more proficient in to help
you become the Project Manager you want to be (depending on how
you structure your earlier sections, make sure to include –
somewhere in this paper – what you believe a good Project Manager
is/does, and/or define what kind of Project Manager you would
want to be; then, in this section, describe any gaps you need
to address to fulfill this vision).
