Intermeccanica, a Canadian automobile manufacturer, has received orders from the City of Vancouver for 45 electric police cars, 30 electric trucks, and 20 electric ambulances that meet clean air emissions standards. Intermeccanica has five plants located in Delta, Maple Ridge, Prince George, Surrey, and Vancouver. The electric vehicles can be produced in any of the five plants. The unit production cost of each vehicle varies from location to location due to availability of resources and transportation cost. Moreover, there is a fixed cost for manufacturing any electric vehicles at each location. The following table presents these costs (in $1000's). Police Cars Trucks Fixed Cost Delta Maple Ridge Prince George Surrey Vancouver 35 41 28 30 45 45 39 48 54 54 Ambulances 50 54 49 38 60 160 148 150 135 300 Formulate an appropriate optimization model to determine how many electric vehicles should be produced at each plant.
