Consists of one long answer question and four short answer questions. It has been some time since you have been on the clinic and so question one is designed to allow you to apply your knowledge of endodontics and restoration of the root-filled tooth gained in CSB to a clinical scenario which includes the equipment and materials you will need.
Question 1
A patient presents with acute pulpitis in their lower left first molar tooth which has a large 'MOD' amalgam and secondary caries in to the pulp. The tooth is restorable but will require a crown due to the amount of tooth tissue remaining. You are planning to carry out the root canal treatment using rotary ProTaper files, including placement of the core, over two visits. You will temporise after completing instrumentation at the end of the first visit and complete obturation and placement of the core at the second visit.
Using the tables below, outline in detail the clinical steps you would follow at each of the two appointments and list the equipment and dental materials you will need.
