OF THE IMPORTANCE AND UNDERSTANDING OF CONTRACTS Dr. Y has decided
that he will close his private practice and join a group medical
group. He decided that he would join a group practice that is
closer to the hospital where he sends his patients. The discussion,
negotiations, and contracts were all completed. Dr. Y started his
position in the early part of September. By November he discovered
that many of the points in the contract did not exist. These are
areas of deficiency that Dr. Y encountered. 1. No strategic plan
had been developed nor any structured planning process for the
physician group. 2. No defined leadership within the group. Many of
the group physicians basically came and went with little focus on
the future of the group. 3. There were no opportunities to develop
lead ship or teamwork and management skills among the group member.
4. Very little participation amongst the other provider in terms of
areas of development for the group practice. 5. Every physician had
been provided different salaries, according to the years they had
been in the health care field, and not based on any educational
achievements or publications. 6. No consistency in the billing and
coding of payments 7. Group secretaries were constantly changing
from month to month. Dr. Y decided that he would break his contract
and find another group medical practice to work within the
community. The CEO of the physician group, refused to allow Dr. Y
to cancel his contract?
