Please show work. I am having trouble with these reconstitution
problems. Thank you.
1. The order is for medication X, 350 mg IM bid. The drug label
reads medication X equivalent to 1g. Add 2.5 milliliters of sterile
water for injection. Yields 3.3 milliliters of solution containing
500 mg/mL. How many mL should the patient receive?
2. The order is for an antibiotic, 900 mg IM. The drug label
reads: Equivalent to 1.0 g. Add 1.8 mL sterile water to yield 1
g/mL. How many mL should the patient receive?
3. The order is for a new trial antibiotic, NOBAX 600,000 units
IM. The drug label reads NOBAX, 2 g in a 15 mL vial, dilute with 5
mL sterile saline, equivalent to 300,000 units/ mL. How many mL
should the patient receive?
4. A patient requires 500 mg of a medication. The medication
label states: Equivalent to 1 g. Add 4.0 mL of sterile water for
injection. Yields 6.0 mL of solution containing 600 mg/mL. How many
mL should the patient receive?
