Global positioning satellite (GPS) receivers operate at the following two frequencies, Li = 1.57542 GHz and L2 =1.22760 GHz. Show that the following relation for the group delay due to propagation through the plasma in the ionosphere is given by: 40.3 Ar = TEC f? where the group delay, Ar, is measured in meters, TEC is the total electron content between the GPS receiver and the satellite, i.e., the column density of electrons measured in electrons/m², and the radio frequency is in Hz. (Note: the maximum value of fp in the ionosphere is < 10 MHz.) (6 marks)
