A wastewater treatment facility needs to install a sedimentation tank as part of their operations. There are two

options for the design of the tank, namely a circular tank with a diameter of 5m or a rectangular tank with a square

area, with a length of 5m.

a) Determine the cost needed for each case given that the water supply is 1,500 m3/d of which 25% is lost to

evaporation before entering the tank, and the detention time is 2 hours.
