5. A 59-year-old known hypertensive patient is taken to the Arima Health Facility by the Emergency Health Services after he complained of sharp chest pain and shortness of breath on exertion. The emergency medical technician administered medication to him that gave relief within a few minutes. Upon arrival at the hospital, his blood pressure was 178/110mmHg, pulse 118 beats/minute, SPO2= 98%. He told the doctors he used a Salbutamol inhaler at a dose of 2 puffs every 6 hours when needed, but when he got the chest pain, he used 4 puffs without relief. He also presented with bilateral ankle edema and his urine test showed high levels of protein. His blood report revealed elevated calcium levels and a chest X-ray confirmed pulmonary edema.
