(1 pt) When a plasma path is created, such as in a lightening bolt, or in the plasma lamp designed by Parker that I discussed, or even in a spark as in a spark plug, or the Jacob's ladder we discussed the conduction of current momentarily increases along the spark-like path. Why? (a) The voltage momentarily increases enormously. (b) A magnetic field is induced by the change in electric field, thereby driving the charges. (c) Electrons are essentially ripped from the atoms, ionizing the atoms, but enabling the electrons to contribute as free electrons to the current, and likewise for the ions to a lesser extent.
