1. The gravitational potential energy, U(r) = -GMm/r, increases monotonically as r increases. Why does the "effective potential" Ue(r) have a non-monotonic dependence on r? If the radius r oscillates back and forth between I'min and r'max, does the period of the radial oscillation necessarily equal the time in which phi advances by 360 degrees?
