Paraphrase the following paragraph
Symptoms:
Marfan syndrome is present at birth, however, it may not be
diagnosed until changes in connective tissue occur. Marfan syndrome
drastically affects the physical appearance of a person. People
with Marfan syndrome are often very tall and thin and have
disproportionately long arms, legs, fingers and toes (Unknown,
2022). Their spine may be curved, their breastbone (sternum) may
either be protruded or indented, and their joints may be weak which
means they are easily prone to dislocation. Often, people who
suffer from this syndrome have a long, narrow face and the roof of
their mouth may be higher than normal, causing the teeth to be
crowded. Patients also have bone problems, like flat feet, hernias
and bone dislocations (Unknown,2022). Moreover, they have history
of dental problems where they undergo tooth extractions or palate
expanders for a narrow palate.
As mentioned Marfan syndromes main cause is abnormal connective
tissues, thus this will include changes in the eyes, heart and
blood vessels, lungs and skin. More than half of all people with
Marfan syndrome have eye problems in which far objects may seem
blurry or unclear this condition is called nearsightedness. Lens
subluxation is another condition that may occur, in which the lens
of the eye moves away from its typical position. Changes at the
level of the blood vessels often affect the aorta which is the
major artery that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the
body. So, when the walls of the aorta weaken or stretch, this will
be life-threatening. A disorder of the heart called cardiomyopathy
may occur where the heart muscle may enlarge and weaken over time,
this may lead to heart failure. Lung changes are another sign of
Marfan syndrome, these changes in the tissue of the lungs increase
the risk of asthma, emphysema, bronchitis, and pneumonia. Changes
in the skin may occur which may lead to a decrease in the
elasticity of the skin and this causes stretch marks to appear even
without changes in one’s weight.
