It is known that neurons establish and control ion
concentrations around a membrane by manipulating certain molecules
(aka ion channels), but the excitability of the neurons is not
firm. In fact, the reactions of the neurons during the stimulation
can be changed by messing with multiple functions to largen or
lessen the excitability/ sensitivity of neurons to
input.
Here is what the essay needs: Provide a case from a neural
system that has an objective that requires the changing of its
sensitivity or excitability of the neurons in the neural
system. Provide evidence for how this neuron response of
the same input that is contrasting situated for another factors
like a chemical or electrical response. Provide an explanation of
the functionality for the changes in the neuron's response.
Include five pieces of information: The neural system, the
function of the neural system, the data represented by single
neurons in the circuit, the component which changes the neuron
response (like a specific example), and give a description of how
the changed neuron response helps the function of the system.
In this case I want to use the neural system(s) that are in
charge of the heart or any other neural system that has to do
with altering the excitability/sensitivity of neurons within
the system.
