An experiment was conducted that investigated the effect of
nitrogen on the growth of bok choy. The plants were pre-germinated
on 1st April in sand before being transferred to a hydroponic
growth system on 11th April. The plants were grown in jars of
nutrient solution that included all essential nutrients. The
independent variable was nitrogen; there were six rates of nitrogen
(4.2, 8.4, 16.8, 33.6, 67.2 and 105.1 mg N). All other variables
were controlled (including light and temperature). There were three
replicates of each treatment (i.e. 18 jars in total). The jars were
randomised within the glasshouse. Plants were grown for three weeks
and were harvested on 3rd May. Plants were removed from the jars
before shoots and roots were separated and plant material was dried
at 60°C for 48 hours. Shoots and roots were then weighed to
determine dry mass. The root:shoot ratio of the plants was
calculated by dividing root dry mass by shoot dry mass. what is the
result, discussion , references and appendix of this
experiment.

1. Results The Results section should include a figure, figure caption and written results for each of the following: 1. Shoot dry mass 2. Root dry mass 3. Root:shoot ratio For each of these measured variables, complete the following: 1. Plot the data using Microsoft Excel. You need to use the most appropriate chart type for the data. The chart should be copied into a Microsoft Word document and a figure caption should be added. 2. Analyse the data using a one-way ANOVA in Microsoft Excel. Include the complete output in ‘Section 4. Appendix’, but just report the 'p-value' in your written results. 3. Briefly describe the results based on the data you have plotted and statistically analysed.
