6. Non-Standard Voltaic Cells An electrochemical cell is built by placing a zinc rod in a 0.500 M solution of zinc nitrate. The zinc rod is attached a wire which connects to a voltmeter then another wire connects to a rod of lead. The lead rod is placed in a 0.400 M solution of lead (II) nitrate. A salt bridge containing a solution of sodium nitrate is added to connect the two solutions. Zn2- + 2e Zn Ered = -0.76V Pb2+ + 2e - Pb Ered = -0.13V Answer the following questions based on this electrochemical cell. a. Which electrode (zinc in zinc nitrate or lead in lead (II) nitrate) will be the anode? Justify your answer (2 points) b. Calculate the standard electrode potential for this cell (2 points) C. Calculate the value of the reaction quotient in this cell (2 points) d. How many electrons are transferred in this reaction? Justify your answer. (2 points) e. What is the reading on the voltmeter in this cell? (2 points)
