Laboratory Rats undergo a dietary study to produce (i) ketone bodies AND (ii) glucose. These rats are provided a specific diet of a single peptides only (see below). Using your understanding of the various biochemical pathways studied in this course, and with structural illustrations/ pathways, show how these rats would metabolize the following tetra-peptide to produce ATP AND then detoxify the resulting by-products for elimination in the urine, while making i) ketone bodies AND (ii) glucose. Hint: carefully look at the amino acid structures. Dietary tetra-peptide: A-E-D-N (40 Marks)
