5.17 A shell is fired with a muzzle velocity v = 1000 ft s-1 at an angle of 45° with the horizontal. Its motion is resisted by a force proportional to the cube of its velocity (F =-kv%). The coefficient k is such that the resisting force is equal to twice the weight of the shell when v = 1000 fts-1. Find the approximate maximum height attained hmax, and the horizontal range R by numerical integration, and compare these with the values expected in the absence of resistance.
