Question 5 (marks 2+2+2 = 6) Two spaceships, each measuring 100m in its own rest frame, pass by each other travelling in opposite directions. Instruments on spaceship A determine that the front end of spaceship B requires 5 x 10-6s to traverse the full length of A. Using hyperbolic rotations: (a) Draw a spacetime diagram representing the problem. (b) Determine the relative velocity of the two spaceships. (c) A clock in the front end of B reads exactly one o'clock as it passes by the front end of A. Determine what will the clock read as it passes by the rear end of A. (HINT: HD Grade problem. Again, drawing the diagram is the key. The spaceships are passing each other. Think from A's perspective, that it is at rest in its own reference frame and B is moving. Then it's a scenario similar to lecture notes section "Moving rod".)
