A desiccant is being used to remove water vapor from a stream of
air a 50oC. The desiccant is a
flat plate with 25 cm length and 10 cm width. The stream of air has
velocity of 5 m/s moving over
the surface in the direction of the 25 cm length. The mass
diffusivity of water vapor in air is
0.18x10-4 m2/s. Assuming the moisture content of bulk air is
0.05kg/m^3, while the moisture content of the air on the desiccant
surface is zero. Determine..
1) The mass transfer coefficient of water vapor from the air to
the desiccant (this one is equal to 0.0125m/s - Answer)
2) The mass transfer rate of the moisture from the bulk air to
the desiccant.
