This problem deals with the isothermal, steady-state expansion
of isobutane at, 25 [°C], from 1.6 [bar] to 4.0 [bar]. The
isobutane may be considered to behave as an ideal gas at the
initial pressure. However, at the final pressure, it is no longer
an ideal gas. The critical properties (Tc and Pc) and acentric
factor (ω) of isobutane are, respectively: 408.1 [K], 3.648 [MPa],
and 0.181
calculate and report the following:
Reduced temperature:
and reduced pressure:
First dimensionless virial coefficients of isobutane: Bo:
____ and B1: ____
The derivative of the dimensionless virial coefficients of
isobutane with respect to the reduced temperature: dBo/dT:
________ and dB1/dT: ________
Residual enthalpy of isobutane at the inlet in [kJ/mol],
and at the outlet in [kJ/mol]
Residual entropy of isobutane at the inlet
in [J/mol·K], and at the outlet in [J/mol·K]
Change of enthalpy in the expansion in [kJ/mol]
