Problem 1: A mixure of 35 mol% methanol and rest of water is in
equilibrium with its vapor at 88oC, determine the (a) pressure and
(b) composition of the vapor
Problem 2: Humid air at 30 oC and 100% relative humidity. By
using psychometric chart; 1. Estimate moisture content, wet-bulb
temperature, humid volume, dew point, and specific enthalpy 2.
Estimate amount of water in 200 m3 of air at these conditions 3.
Comment of obtained wet-bulb and dew temperatures
Problem 3: Use either Raoult’s law or Henry’s law to estimate
the mole fraction of dissolved ethane in a gas containing 3.00
mole% ethane is in contact with water at 25 oC and 20.0 atm
Problem 4: A mixture of 60 wt% water, and the balance MIBK and
acetone at 25 oC and 1 atm is fed to a settler where two phases
formed. If acetone is 15 wt% in MIBK rich phase, find the
composition of the feed and the two formed phases
Problem 5: 1. Using the T-x,y diagram, estimate the bubble-point
temperature and the equilibrium vapor composition associated with a
30 mole% benzene–70 mole% toluene liquid mixture at 1 atm. If the
mixture is steadily vaporized until the remaining liquid contains
20% benzene, what is the final temperature? 2. Using the T-x,y
diagram, estimate the dew-point temperature and the equilibrium
liquid composition associated with a vapor mixture of benzene and
toluene containing 40 mole% benzene at 1 atm. If condensation
proceeds until the remaining vapor contains 60% benzene, what is
the final temperature?
