A rigid circular lid seals a pressurized air tank which is
immersed in water. Before the tank was immersed a pressure gauge
indicated its pressure to be 40 Pa. The lid is hinged as shown and
being held closed by a bolt exerting force, F.
a) What is the force of the water on the lid and where does it
act relative to the hinge?
b) What is the force of the interior 40 kPa air on the lid and
where does it act?
c) What is the magnitude of F?
