42. (5 pts) Brady, a graduating senior in civil engineering, entered his faculty adviser's office one day. "As you know, I'll be graduating next week. If you recall, I was seeking a job specializing in transportation. I worked 7 years in that field before seeking a college degree. I found 2 excellent opportunities with 2 companies in Fargo, "X Contractors Inc" & "Y Engineering". They were both interested in me, I received great offers from both firms because of my experience. Before Spring Break, I accepted the position with Y Engineering and notified X Contractors of my decision. Flash forward to yesterday, I received a short letter stating they would no longer be able to honor their previous offer. They haven't returned my calls or emails so I reached out to the other company to see if they were still hiring but their positions were filled and the interviews on campus are done for the semester. Now, I'm graduating in a week without a job and we just bought a house. Is there something I can do?" Answer the 5 questions from #3 on the exam as they pertain to Y Engineering's ethical behavior and discuss each of them. Is the action that that you or someone is about to do legal? Will the decision affect others around me? Does the decision I'm about to make affect any of the values that I hold true to myself? Are there any rules or regulations that might restrict my actions? What would someone close to me think about my decision?
