The section of a masonry wall is shown. U-factors for both winter and summer condition and estimate the heat transfer per square meter from the wall assuming a location in Chicago, IL. Consider 1% and 99% for design condition, assume inside condition design at 70 F. The wall consists of 4 in. of face brick (150 lb/ft”), in. of cement mortar (cement plaster sand aggregate), an 8- in. sand-and-gravel concrete block (three-hole oval-cored), 1 - by 2-in, furring strips on block surface, and % metal lath with perlite aggregate (sand aggregate) attached to the furring strips. (Neglect resistance of furring strips)
