Q1) a three-noded planar triangular truss, shown in Figure Q1,
is subjected to a concentrated force, F= 12 kN at node N3. The
truss is made of cylindrical bar of diameter, d=5.0 mm and steel
material of Young's modulus, E=210 GPa. If the planar reuss is
fixwd securely at node N1 but has roller support at nodes N2.
Using the principles of Direct Stiffness Method, and from first
principles, undertake the following calculations:
(a) Determine the three-member stiffness matrices, K1e, K2e, K3e
for the bars.
(b) Derive the structural stiffness matrix, Ks for this
structure.
(c) Using the appropriate boundary condition and showing all the
analysis steps, determine the displacements at nodes N2 and N3.
Note that you must show in detail all the steps required to
determine all stiffness matrices.
