2. 2. (a) A polypropylene specimen has a mass of 28 kg and density of 1.65x10 kgm. Determine the crystallinity by weight of the specimen. Use the following information, Density of the crystalline phase = 1.77x10 kgm- Density of the amorphous phase = 1.43x10° kgm3 (5 Marks) A standard Vickers Hardness test was conducted on a metal specimen. Determine the Vicker's hardness number and the tensile stress of the specimen. The applied load was 10 kgf, and the standard indenter left an indentation with diagonal d = 0.265 mm. Assume that the metal is hard. (5 Marks) (i) Sketch the microstructure of Pearlite and Hypoeutectoid stell. (2 Marks) (b) (c) (ii) Determining the weight percentage, wt% and weight of Proeutectoid ferrite and Pearlite in a 530 kg, hypo-eutectoid steel alloy with a nominal carbon content of 0.25 %. Clearly show the equations and calculations. (8 Marks) (d) A tensile test was carried out on a metal specimen. The gauge length of the specimen was 90 mm, and the initial (original) cross sectional area was 15.56 mm². The final (fractured) length was 103.4 mm, and the final cross-sectional area was 14.40mm?. Determine the percentage elongation and percentage reduction in area of the specimen. (5 Marks)
