Pinion A parallel helical gear-set consists of a 17-tooth pinion driving a 68-teeth gear. The pinion has a left-hand helix angle of 30°, a normal pressure angle of 20°, and a normal diametal pitch of 10 teeth/inch. If the pinion is to transmit 38 kW at a speed of 1800 rpm in a counterclockwise direction if an observer is at the left side of A as shown in the figure. Determine: a) the normal, transverse, and axial circular pitches; b) the transverse diametral pitch and the transverse pressure angle; c) the pitch diameters of the two gears and the center distance between shafts. d) Compute for the component loads of the tooth of the gear and show the three- dimensional sketch.
