the required is the volume of EDTA
B-You are provided by an anion exchanger, distilled water, balance, mixture of Co2+ and Ni2+ and 0.1M EDTA. Determine the concentration of Co2+ and Ni2+ separately (3marks) Procedure 1) After regeneration process add pass 50 ml of 2MHCl through the column and drain to almost bed level 2) Introduce 20 ml of the solution containing the mixture of Co2+ and Ni2+with a little 2M HCl from the top of the column 3) Pass 25ml of 2M HCl through the column 4) Collect the eluate containing Ni in 250 ml conical flask at the rate of 2ml per min 5) Pass 3more lots of 25 ml each of 2M HCl through the column and collect the eluate in the same conical flask 6) Estimate the concentration of Ni2+ through titration process using 0.1M EDTA, ammonical buffer and murexide indicator. 7) After the Ni has been eluted from the column, pass200ml of water at rate of 3-4 ml per min through the chromatographic column 8) Estimate the concentration of Co2-through titration process using 0.1M EDTA, ammonical buffer and EirochromblackT indicator. Calculation Volume of 0.1 M EDTA used for titration Ni2+ Volume of 0.1 M EDTA used for titration Co2+ Amount of Ni2+ is recovered from the given mixture= Amount of Co2+ is recovered from the given mixture= ppm ppm
