Five years ago (in 2017) the conductor cost of a 1000 mm2 single
core copper ± 350 kV DC submarine cable was M1 (UPB/m) and the
insulation cost was M2 (UPB/m). (Thirty percent of THD (Total
Harmonic Distortion) was also taken into account in the design of
this cable.) This year (in 2022) the conductor cost of the 2500 mm2
single core "Milliken" copper 420 kV AC submarine cable is M1' >
6xM1 and the insulation cost is M2. ' > 3xM2 (The cost of
Milliken -intermediate slicing- material, which reduces the skin
effect- is equal to 3% of the cost of the copper conductor.) Solid
insulation material with a dielectric strength of 60 kV/mm was used
in both cables.
(a) Years 2017-2022 Find the "average real escalation rate" in
the cost of copper (based on 2017, the inflation rate in the
country has the change conforming to the function of 0.12xt^0.8. t:
years)
(b) Find the "average rate of increase" in the Euro/UPB parity
over five years ( The insulation material is purchased from abroad
and the selling price of Eur/kg has not changed for five years.
During this period, there has been no change in the costs of
customs, transportation, foreign trade fund, etc.)
