Problem 2: A hybrid arrangement of one TCI and three TSCs are connected to a 230kV (line-line RMS voltage), 60Hz, three-phase ac system supplying an inductive load of P+jQ 2000MW + j1000MVar. Each TCI and TSC are rated for 50MVar per phase. Complete the following (25 points]: a) Calculate the per-phase effective inductance and delay angle of the TCI required to hold the nominal ac bus voltage to its nominal value for a 5% reduction in Q. [10 points). b) Assume another scenario of a 5% increase in Q. Calculate a) the number of TSCs that should be switched, b) the per-phase effective inductance of TCI and, c) delay angle of the TCI to hold the ac voltage to its nominal value. [15 points).
