Problem 3: Mathitis is an infectious disease caused by the XY-111-virus. It is common among animals called mathrats. One day a human came in contact with a mathrat and got infected, causing a spread of mathitis across the globe. Any person that gets infected with mathitis transmits the disease the next day to 3 other people, and the following day to 4 people. On day three after the infection the person recovers, is free of the virus, and becomes immune to the virus forever. Let Mn be the number of people that became infected with mathitis on on n after the animal-to-human transmission (with the day when the transmission from mathrats occurred being day 0). Derive the formula for Mn. Your solution must consist of a recurrence equation for Mn, with a complete justification, followed by a solution of this recurrence, showing your work.
