7. A researcher wanted to assess whether a new intervention
increased students’ altruism. To examine this, she selected a
random sample of 150 grammar school students from across
Chicago. Each participant participated in the intervention for two
months. After the two-month period, each participant completed a
measure that assessed their level of altruism. (On this measure,
higher scores indicate a higher degree of altruism). The students
had an average score of M = 78.26 on the measure. The
researcher wanted to compare this to a known population mean
of μ= 76.94 (s= 5.12).
Does the intervention have
an impact on student altruism? Please
use alpha = 0.05. If appropriate, calculate a 95.00% confidence
interval.
