Over the past year, the vice president for human resources at a large medical center has run a series of three-month workshops aimed at increasing worker motivation and performance. To check the effectiveness of the workshops, she selected a random sample of 35 employees from the personnel files. She collected the employee performance ratings recorded before and after workshop attendance and stored the paired ratings in the accompanying data tables. Compute descriptive statistics and perform a paired t test. State your findings and conclusions in a report to the vice president for human resources. Assume a = 0.05. : Click the icon to view the data table of the performance ratings.

Data table of the performance ratings n Before 61 61 83 84 83 78 78 61 66 68 69 71 77 63 65 68 89 68 After 92 78 68 78 74 71 90 78 62 63 64 66 64 78 63 93 64 65 Before 81 60 68 69 70 65 83 72 76 88 75 88 83 89 64 87 71 见而%防昭昭四叶红 After 71 84 66 86 90 62 73 63 84 80 72 79 74 69 84 86 70 Print Done

Compute the descriptive statistics. Find the mean of the performance ratings before the workshops. Mean before workshops = 77.26 (Round to two decimal places as needed.) Find the mean of the performance ratings after the workshops. Mean after workshops = 79.8 (Round to two decimal places as needed.) Find the mean of the difference of the ratings before and after the workshops. (Assume the difference to be the before data value minus the after data value) Mean of the difference = -2.54 (Round to two decimal places as needed.) Find the variance of the performance ratings before the workshops. Variance before workshops = 66.02 (Round to two decimal places as needed.) Find the variance of the performance ratings after the workshops. Variance after workshops = 135.28 (Round to two decimal places as needed.) Find the variance of the difference of the ratings before and after the workshops. Variance of the difference = 213.67' (Round to two decimal places as needed.) Perform a paired t test. Let Hy be the population mean rating from before the workshop and let Hy be the population mean rating from after. What are the null and alternative hypotheses? O A. Ho: Hp #0 (where HD = 11-H2) H:Hp = 0 OC. Ho: Hp = 0 (where HD = H1-H2) H:Hp *0 B. Ho: Hp 20 (where Hp =H1-H2) H:Hp <0 OD. Ho: Ho 50 (where HD = 11-H2) H:10 > 0 Determine the test statistic, ISTAT ESTAT = -1.03 (Round to two decimal places as needed.) Find the p-value for the test statistic. The p-value is 0.155 (Round to three decimal places as needed.) State your conclusion. Do not reject Ho. There is insufficient evidence to conclude that the mean performance ratings are higher after the workshops than before.
