Chewing gum flavour duration experiment Background and hypothesis There are variety of chewing gum commercially on sell to people to enjoy. The chewing gums are also presented in different flavours and texture. We hypothesis that different flavours the gum made from have influence on flavour duration in a mouth. For this small experiment two flavours, Strawberry and Mint are chosen from a Mentos chewing gum brand. For this experiment each student given the two flavours of chewing gum to chew randomly in two consecutive days and requested to record the duration of flavours for each in minutes. Each student given the two chewing gums, to avoid individual difference in flavour detection and to consider individual participant as a block. In addition, the participants gender which was collected prior the start of the experiment was included to the data because of the suspected difference between the two genders in chewing gum flavour duration. Please, note that the research factor you are investigating is a chewing gum flavour and the two gum flavour types (Strawberry and Mint) are treatment levels. The flavour duration you are measuring in minutes after chewing is the response variable. Hypothesis Ho: The mean minute of flavour duration time in mouth is similar for the two flavour types (Strawberry and Mint). Ha: The mean minutes of flavour duration time in mouth is significantly different for two flavour types (Strawberry and Mint).
