The pH of a liquid is a measure of its acidity or
alkalinity. Pure water has a pH of 7, which is neutral. Solutions
with a pH less than 7 are acidic while solutions with a pH greater
than 7 are “basic” (i.e., more “base”). Using applicable statistics
that you compute from the dataset, conduct a hypothesis test to
determine whether there is evidence that average pH in Florida
lakes is different from the neutral value of 7. Use a statistical
significance (alpha) of 5%.
Read the upper statement answer the below questions pls all
of them
A. What are the Observational Units (who or what was actually
observed):
B. What is the response Variable (the variable of interest for
this research):
C. What is the response Variable Type (Categorical or
Numerical):
D. What is the Research Question for this situation?
State the Null and Alternative hypotheses in sentence
form:
A. Null Hypothesis sentence form:
B. Alternative Hypothesis sentence form:
If we let 𝛍 represent the mean pH level in all Florida
lakes, then what are the “formal” hypotheses for this
test:
A. Null Hypothesis:
B. Alternative Hypothesis:
