(7) In a study of thresholds for pain, 25 women and 25 men were randomly recruited. Participants sub- merged their non-dominant hand in room temperature water for three minutes and then immersed the same hand in 41°F water with the instruction that they should submerge their unclenched hand as long as possible up to five minutes. The data summaries for both genders are given below.
