A study was designed to evaluate whether socioeconomic factors had an effect on verbalization skills of young children. Four socioeconomic classes were defined and 80 children under the age of six were selected for the study. The research hypothesis was that the mean verbalization skills would be different for the four classes. However it was felt that age of child also has an influence on the verbalization skills and hence the need to make to a decision as whether or not to adjust for it as well as the appropriate analysis to carry out depending on the decision about age.
