Hypothesis testing about a difference in population proportions between two groups 6. Zach is studying the effect of a special course for police officers on their efficiency in clearing crimes by arrest. According to New York State Police, about half of the police officers in Albany have completed a special course in investigative procedures. The proportions of cases cleared by arrest for samples of trained and untrained officers are reported here. (16.5pts) Trained Untrained P = 0.46 P = 0.43 N. = 170 N = 230 a) Using the significance level of os, test the null hypothesis that proportion of cases for trained officers is less than or equal to that for untrained officers. (Round all calculations to 3 decimal places) b) is the difference between the difference in proportions observed between the samples statistically significant? Explain why, using the language of probability. c) What is your conclusion? Is there a relationship between the variables statistically significant? Interpret the results in terms of the original research
