A textile company has plants in Istanbul and Izmir, with capacities 450 and 700 jackets per week respectively. It has customers in Ankara, Bursa, Malatya, and Antalya, which order 325, 300, 275, and 200 jackets per week. Suppose that the distances (in km) involved are: Ankara Bursa Malatya Antalya Istanbul 250 170 380 300 Izmir 250 200 340 150 The shipping cost is $90 per jacket per thousand km. The company aims to determine the number of jackets shipped from each plant to each of the four cities so as to minimize total shipping cost. a) Formulate this problem in AMPL (by using appropriate sets) and solve it to determine the minimum cost and the amounts to be shipped. Include the contents of AMPL.mod and .dat files and the AMPL output that indicates the optimal solution and the optimal value into the MS Word file which you will submit through Blackboard. b) Interpret the optimal solution you obtained in part a). c) Suppose that the capacity of the plant located in Izmir is reduced to 675. Solve the revised problem using AMPL (also provide the AMPL output) and compare the new optimal solution with the optimal solution you found in part a).
