A company produces x units of a product A and y units of a
product B. The production of goods is given by the equation
4x2+25y2=50000. x and y are greater or equal
to 0. Let's assume that the profits obtained from the sales were $2
per unit for product A and $10 per unit for product B. Find the
strategy of production (that is, how many units of each product
have to be produced) in a way that the obtained profit is the
highest possible.
a) What is the number of units of product A that have to be
produced?
b) What is the correspondent value of the Lagrange λ
multiplier?
