Employee Evaluation
You are a graduate of the Health Services Management Program and
an employee of the medical records department of ABC hospital in
Anywhere, USA. You have worked in this position for one
year. For a job well done, you have been promoted to
supervisor of the department.
As supervisor, you are responsible for the annual evaluation of
all five employees in the department. Your job duties include
assigning work, conflict resolution when disagreements arise,
morale of the department, and building a team spirit among the
employees. It is now time for annual employee evaluations of
the five individuals whom you supervise. Each review includes
a face-to-face meeting with the employee to discuss his or her
performance for the past year. Once you conduct the review, you
write report for the employee's personnel file
Evaluate the performance of one hypothetical employee, Mr. or
Ms. Smith. Smith is an ICD-CPT coder and risk manager. You
held a face-to-face meeting with Smith to discuss the
responsibilities of the job. The two of you identified strengths
and weakness and addressed several deficient areas.
Write the evaluation in memo format and include the
following:
Discussion of employee strengths and weaknesses
Recommendation(s) for improvement
Steps to be taken if improvement does not occur
Other pertinent information you find applicable
